Simple Past – Passado Simples
O Simple Past é usado:
- Para expressar ações acabadas em um tempo definido;
- Para expressar também hábitos passados.
SIMPLE PAST – REGULAR VERBS
- Para se formar o passado simples dos verbos regulares acrescenta-se - D ou - ED ao verbo.
EXEMPLOS
Love = loved
Talk – talked
Change = changed
- Se o verbo terminar em – Y precedido de consoante, troca-se o – Y por – IED.
Exemplos:
Carry = carried
Study = studied
- Se o verbo terminar em sílaba forte formada por consoante / vogal / consoante, dobra-se a última consoante e acrescenta-se –ED.
EXEMPLOS:
Stop = stopped
Drop = dropped
AFFIRMATIVE FORM
SUJEITO + VERBO NO PASSADO + COMPLEMENTO
Exemplos:
They cleaned their room.
She played tennis yesterday
NEGATIVE FORM
SUJEITO + DIDN'T + VERBO NA FORMA BASE + COMPLEMENTO.
Exemplos:
He didn't study for the test.
She didn't go to school by car.
INTERROGATIVE FORM
DID + SUJEITO + VERBO NA FORMA BASE + COMPLEMENTO.
Exemplos:
Did he give me phone number?
Did they buy a new car?
SIMPLE PAST IRREGULAR VERBS
Os verbos irregulares não possuem regras para a formação do passado.
É preciso, então, consultar a lista de verbos irregulares.
EXEMPLOS:
DRINK = DRANK
SPEAK = SPOKE
LOSE = LOST
EAT = ATE
COME = CAME
GET = GOT
PUT = PUT
OBSERVES
- he lost her purse.
- She didn't lose her purse.
- Did she lose her purse?
- We made a delicious cake.
- We didn't make a delicious cake.
- Did we make a delicious cake?
